Just the Start!

This weekend was quite eventful. To begin with, I started my Christmas shopping with the opening of ToyLand at Farm and Fleet. I was shocked at the amount of people and the amount of toys in their carts. It was madness! It was Black Friday shoved into five aisles! I got some things for Paisley and left.

While I was at Farm and Fleet, my mom called. Paisley was with her because Jordan had class this weekend. Paisley went potty in the potty for the first time. She had no idea what she did, but we made a big deal out of it. Paisley was standing in the middle of the hallway doing her thing, and my mom asked if she needed to go potty. Paisley said no, but mom put her on the potty to finish her task. She usually tells us "potty" after she has went potty in her pants.

Other than that, it was a beautiful weekend to be outside!

Busy Labor Day Weekend

We had an amazingly busy Labor Day weekend at the Williams Ranch. On Saturday, Jordan and I both ran in the UW-Platteville Cross Country Alumni Run. I was the oldest female alumni that ran, but I did rather well...beating several people. Jordan did a great job ...especially since he just started running again on August 9!! Paisley and both grandparents cheered us both on. It was so great to see old friends again. We attended the Alumni Picnic, and got ready for Sunday.

On Sunday, we had several people over to our house for games and food. It was a great day, and fun was had by all! We had a food boil. We cooked shrimp, potatoes, sweet corn and brats outside in turkey fryers. We had tables and chairs set up outside with brown paper covering all of the tables. When the food was done, the guys dumped it on the tables. Everyone pulled up a chair, and dug in! That's right...no plates or forks. Ketchup, ranch dressing, butter, and shrimp sauce all just was squeezed onto the table. It was quite a sight!!

On Monday morning, I ran a half marathon in Dubuque. I had a goal of averaging 8:00 miles for the 13.1 miles. If you know anything about Dubuque, you know it is hilly, and I knew the last 7 miles were going to be tough. I went too fast during the flat first 6 miles, and the hilly miles 7, 8, 9 were tough. I was in rough shape near the end, but I did manage to beat my goal. I ran the race in about 1:42:00!! I also placed 3rd in my age group! Jordan, Paisley, and both my mom and dad and Jordan's mom were there cheering me on!

Following the race, we came home and power napped, as we were all pretty tired. We picked up the house from the previous day, and made two batches of cookies. The UW-Platteville cross country team takes scenic runs on Mondays, and one of their runs just happens to go right by our house. Each year (this is the 3rd year) we have them over to our house after their run for cookies and lemonade. Jordan and I don't really know any of the current runners, but we enjoy doing this. One of the girls (Ann Tank) fell in love with Paisley and Paisley really enjoyed her energy and enthusiasm for playing. We actually got her number to possibly babysit sometime!!

We are definitely ready for bed, so pictures will have to wait for a couple of days to be posted. We need to go back to work to rest from the weekend!

Door County Vacation!

Last week we spent the week in Door County with some friends and their families. We rented two houses and loved every minute of it. We biked a 10 mile trail at Peninsula State Park twice. One day it was just Jordan, Paisley and me, and the next day it was 11 of us. Paisley loved the biking.

We also visited Whitefish Sand Dunes Beach. It was gorgeous! It was quite the hike to the beach, but it was definitely worth it. The water was cooler than what we're used to at the pool, so we didn't actually do a whole lot of swimming. It was shallow enough for us to walk out pretty far without getting too wet. This was also Paisley's first experience with sand and her bare feet. She wasn't sure what to think at first, but she enjoyed playing on the beach with her sand toys.

Every morning I went for a run with a different route that I had found. The "backroads" were filled with beautiful vacation home that had amazing views. Every day I would come back and tell Jordan about a new house that I had found. It was a great change of pace.

We were able to spend a lot of time relaxing and enjoying good company. Paisley played really well with Charlie and Halle. Halle is 4 months older than Paisley, so there was a good amount of playing, as well as a good amount of fighting over toys. Charlie is 5, and Paisley loves him. Whenever she needed to be calmed down, Charlie as well as Griffin were right there. Paisley even learned to say, "Charlie."

All in all, we had a great time. It wasn't so busy that we felt like we were running all over, and it was also filled with a lot of memories. We plan to go again next year.

Ferryville Cabin 2010

For the 3rd year in a row, we spent 3 nights with two of our favorite families. We always have a blast together, and the kids seem to get along also. This is a weekend in which the females battle the males in many different games...board games and lawn games. However, our favorite and most comical is always Sing Star...a type of karaoke game in which you battle against another person. The past two years we have brought babysitters along so that we can have some fun without the kids. We are also able to spend time with our kids too. As always we had a blast, and the time went too quickly.

4th of July

Unfortunately there were no fireworks on the 4th of July, but we managed to have a good time at the parade. Paisley even had her first freezie-pop. She must have had too much fun because she ended up sick at the end of the night. Luckily it didn't last too long.

Staying Organized

We have a new addition to our living room. Jordan's uncle Reuben has made many things for us. He is the one who made Jordan's gun cabinet, my quilt rack, and our garbage bin. He just finished a beautiful toy chest that can also serve as a seat. We can finally have most of the toys put away, and our living room only looks like a small toy store. Paisley really enjoys it...she actually thinks it is a toy itself.

Fun at the Park

Yesterday afternoon we made a stop at a different park in Benton. This park had a lot of different "rides" for Paisley to try out. Her favorite is still the slide...even though she couldn't make it down the big twirly slide by herself. We tried, but she ended up twisting around and hitting her head. She really does enjoy being outside. She will look out the window and say, "Side...side."

Her newest fascination is that she tells stories and then laughs at them. We have no idea what she is saying, but she thinks it is pretty funny. We laugh along with her, and she loves it. She also will put a bag over her shoulder or put our shoes on and say, "Bye! Bye!" She then will come over and try to give us a kiss. It is adorable!!

First Day of Summer!!

Since today is the first day of summer and the humidity made it feel really sticky, we decided to visit the Shullsburg pool for the first time this summer. Paisley wasn't too excited. She had a death-grip on me, but she did start to relax after awhile. We made it back to the shallow end, and she actually sat on the first step all by herself. She actually seemed to be enjoying herself at that point...the point that we were going to leave. We decided that we just need to take her more often. It should be a fun summer!!

Smore Fun!

Sunday night was the Cuba City fireworks, and we can see them really well from our house. We had a few families over for a cookout, bonfire, and fireworks fun. Paisley was loving life! She was just in awe of all the kids playing with her toys. She was running all over with everyone...until 10:30. At one point Jordan said to me, "I think Paisley can party longer than you can." However, Paisley was falling asleep while eating supper tonight. She can party, but she needs her beauty sleep too!

Big "Mini" Golfer

Jordan's basketball team had a mini-golf outing this week. Paisley and I came along for a night filled with mini-golf. Paisley loved it!! She immediately started chasing the balls, and she needed to have a club in hand. I got a lot of exercise chasing Paisley. We had to keep warning the girls that Paisley would steal the ball. Hey...if no one was playing with it, why couldn't she take it? It kind of defeated the meaning of golf! She had a great time!

When she wasn't chasing golf balls, she found the perfect ride... a school bus. She is going to be quite the driver someday. Watch out!!

Hot Weather Solutions

It has been extremely warm, especially Monday. We decided to show Paisley how to cool off in the summer heat. We hooked up the sprinkler, but Paisley was not terribly excited about getting wet. I don't blame her too much...the water coming out of that sprinkler is probably 50 degrees. She thought it was pretty neat, but not quite brave enough to go through the sprinker herself. However...it isn't summer for me yet. Jordan is officially done with school, but he starts his summer school classes soon. Oh how I envy him being done!!

Race Day!!

Today was Paisley's first road race that she participated in!! We can't start early enough. About a month ago I had a co-worker die from brain cancer. Before he passed away, his wife and the Senior student council decided to put on a run not only for him but for brain cancer research. It was a 5k race, and Jordan, Paisley and I all participated. Jordan walked and carried Paisley in a backcarrier while I ran (21:30...3rd place in my "old" age group). It was a great race, and there were tons of people there...almost 500!! Jordan said Paisley was clapping at all the passing runners and trying to give them high fives as they passed. She loves road races already!! It was for such a wonderful cause, but as you can see...Paisley was ready for a nap by the time we were done.

It's Been Awhile!

Let's see...it has been quite awhile since I posted anything here. As always, things are always happening at our house. We are winding down the school year, and it can't come fast enough. Jordan only has 9 days of school left!! He has summer classes, but I am free for the summer...not until June 11 though. Oh that is so long away!!

I have become a garage sale addict...I think I've had my fill though. Paisley has enough clothes for two little girls! I can't resist a good deal though. I picked up a infant swing, and Paisley loves it. However, we don't have anywhere to hang it outside. We've been hanging it in the garage which has worked great with all of the rain. We back the vehicles out, and she is good to go.

We are getting ready for the swimming season. My cousins were in Darlington a couple of weeks ago, and we all met at the hotel. We tested the water, but it was past bedtime, so it wasn't a huge hit with Paisley.

Paisley is all over. A couple of weeks ago she was in the nursery at church, and the ladies commented to us afterward that she is "quite the monkey." So true!! She has no fear and will climb on anything. The Friday before Mother's Day, Paisley was running through the patio door and fell. However, her face hit the slider. It bruised so quickly. It is looking much better, but for a week I felt like a terrible mother. At breakfast on Mother's Day a man saw Paisley and said to her, "You have a dirty face." I just smiled and shook my head!!

Jordan gave us a great surprise by purchasing the largest chair known to man. It is hideous, and he thinks it is great. I can just imagine this chair around a campfire. The whole campground would need to walk by the campsite just to see this monster.

Lastly, I just wanted to share that Paisley really is alot like me. She loves her pancakes just like her mom. When Jordan isn't home, this is what we eat. We don't care if it is breakfast or supper! As you can see, she like the bigger pieces!

Springtime Fun!

Paisley loves the outdoors. With the beautiful weather, we have been spending a lot of time outside. We can't wait until summer when we can spend much more time outside together. She really likes going to the park, and she loves her slide in the yard.

The Garage Is Done!!

We can finally park in our garage after two months of parking out in the cold. We get spoiled so quickly, and we don't even realize it until we have to go outside to get in the car when it is raining or cold out. The garage project has been a vision of Jordan's for quite awhile. At the end of February, Jordan's cousin came down and they drywalled and insulated the garage. A couple of weeks ago, we had someone come and paint it. Jordan bought storage last weekend, and this weekend we finally put the finishing touches on it. I have to give Jordan all the credit. I didn't do a whole lot except hold things when needed and keep Paisley from getting into everything. It looks organized and fantastic!!

Updates from All Around

Today was a little bit of a sad day. Ruger and Wetherby were officially moved outside. Twice this week they have peed on things. This is not the first time. They don't really like Paisley, and it is finally warm enough. I feel guilty, and I hope they do okay.

Paisley has officially started to brush her own teeth. Okay...it really isn't brushing, but she really enjoys putting the toothbrush in her mouth and pretending that she is brushing. We think it is cute.

Paisley is definitely in the stage of taking things out of drawers and throwing them all over the floor. One of her favorite things to do is to take all of her clothes out of her dresser. I can't tell you how many times we fold her clothes in a day. Another favorite drawer to empty is under the stove. Fortunately, she will ususally put the cookie sheets etc. back.

We Have a Climber!

For awhile now Paisley has been able to climb into "kids" chairs. She has been trying to climb onto the couch, but it is just too big for her. Today, she figured out that she can climb into the rocking chair all by herself. She was so proud of herself when she finally made it. However, we have to work on sitting down when we get in the chair. She thinks it is a game to stand up, and then I come over and tell her to sit down. We had quite the challenge this afternoon.

On a foggy day that turned into a fabulous afternoon, Paisley and I went to the park. I had school cancelled, and it ended up being 60 + degrees that day. It was a great day to go for a swing.

Busy as Bees

Sorry I haven't updated this in awhile. It seems like lately we have been very busy. A couple of weeks ago Jordan's cousin Todd and his family came to visit. Jordan put them to work. They insulated and drywalled the garage and framed the basement. They worked really hard, but it was quite the mess. We still haven't recovered, as we are still unable to park in the garage.
Paisley is always growing. She is quite the independent girl sometimes. She wants to feed herself, and she won't eat if you are feeding her. However, she doesn't always get the food in her mouth. This morning I found applesauce on the wall!

As for Jordan and I, Jordan is going to the NCAA Men's Final Four. He is very excited. I was able to get away last weekend with my aunts and cousins for a shopping weekend. We also had a great time. Jordan and Paisley were able to have some quality time together. I also had parent/teacher conferences this week, so they spent even more quality time together.

We can't wait until it is really warm and actually dry outside. Paisley will have a blast roaming around the yard. I wish spring would hurry!!

Scale Tipper

Paisley went to the doctor on Thursday for her one year check up. She has officially climbed back on the weight chart (still in the fifth percentile, but we love progress). She weighed 18 pounds 1 ounce! We were all very excited, and again the doctor and nurses were able to see that she is simply a very active little girl.

The Big 3-0!!

Last week was my birthday. I turned 30, and for some reason I feel very old. I had a fabulous weekend, thanks to my wonderful husband. He started the weekend off with a great surprise. On Saturday morning he had arranged for Maggie to pick me up. (However, I didn't know, and I have learned that I should lock the door when I am in the shower and Paisley is napping.) He also arranged for my mom to be there to watch Paisley. Maggie and I met two of my Senior friends (Molly and Anna) at Capri College. It was a great day of relaxation. Later that evening, Jordan and I went to Taiko (a Japanese steakhouse). It was fabulous and a lot of fun! On Sunday we had dinner at my parent's house with my Grandma and Jordan's mom and grandma.

Paisley surely enjoyed my birthday cake more than her own birthday cake. She couldn't wait to dig in!!

A Hard Day's Work

Look! No Hands!!

Paisley often tries to help unload the dishwasher. Actually, she just likes to try to climb on the door. It is like a game. As soon as she hears the dishwasher open, she is right there. I try to be as quick as I can. Last night, she picked up a plastic cup that was on the bottom rack. She carried it around and was so proud of herself. It kept her busy while I unloaded the rest of the dishwasher. As I was done, I turned around and saw this. She thought it was the greatest thing!!

Stuck!

Since Paisley now has decided that she can crawl into things, she seems to sometimes have trouble getting out. She enjoys crawling in her car seat, but we will often help her out after she is upside down. The other day I heard her doing her, "Help I'm stuck" cry. I went into the living room, and she was stuck in the magazine basket. When I got the camera out, she thought it was a picture perfect moment.

This past weekend Paisley decided that she spent too much time actually flinging her toys out of the toy bin. She decided it would be much faster if she just crawled right in. She was so content on just being in the bin and being with her toys.

It's amazing how quickly a year has gone by. It is unbelievable that Paisley is already 1. It seems like just yesterday we were anxiously awaiting her arrival. She has changed so much in the past week...let alone the past year.

We had a small birthday party on Saturday. She got a new slide and a new four-wheeler. She also has a new musical broom to help mom sweep the kitchen floor. We have also added a new lawn mower so she can help dad with the lawn.

All in all, it was a great couple of days. Today it almost seemed as if she knew it was her birthday. She was very excited this morning when we sang to her. She also had a great time at the babysitter's celebrating her birthday.

Mommy's Little Helper

On my second day of no school this week due to the ice near Dubuque, we decided to get a jump start on cleaning for the big birthday party that is happening this weekend. (Paisley is turning 1 next week!) I began to sweep the floor, and Paisley wanted to help. She really knows how to find the dirt pile...and walk right through it. However, I think she is going to be a great helper when she gets older...not that she isn't helping now. She was very intent on wanting to use the broom and Swiffer.

Shame on Us...Lesson Learned

This morning while I thought I had the doors to our bedroom and the bathroom shut, I was busy in the living room. Paisley had been playing in her bedroom with books. She was being awfully quiet, and I kept calling to her, but I couldn't go and see what she was doing. However, five minutes later, Paisley finally came down the hallway with...a trail of toilet paper behind her. It was quite the sight, and I had to laugh. We have definitely learned a lesson...the bathroom door stays shut. I am actually quite surprised that it has taken her this long to find it.

We Have a Walker!

I believe we officially have a walker. Paisley has been doing really well in walking between things. She is still a little wobbly, but in the last two days, she prefers to walk to things. She still crawls when she needs to go places quickly, and she still falls down and is unbalanced, but I am officially saying Paisley is walking. I'm not sure if this is good or bad yet!!

Jordan's cousin gave us a little person's chair that their daughter has outgrown. I showed it to Paisley tonight, and she loved it. She is definitely a climber, and she spent most of the night climbing in the chair. She really wanted to stand in it, but we are still working on No, Sit down please! We also worked on how to correctly get out of the chair. At first she just liked to dive, but she learned how to smoothly slide out of it...only to get back in it. She could have done it for hours!

A New Year with New Beginnings...And Hopefully More Weight!

Paisley has started to begin wanting to feed herself. She enjoys playing with her forks and spoons while we are feeding her. She has started to put food on her spoon and put it in her mouth. Tonight when we began supper, I was thinking that we could skip a bath tonight because I knew she was tired. However, by the time we were done with supper, and she was done feeding herself, a bath was definitely in order. Paisley is also starting to really eat. I don't know where she puts the food, but she has really started to chow down. This morning she ate a whole packet of instant oatmeal and a frozen eggo waffle. For lunch she had some macaroni and cheese...more than she normally eats, and for supper she had turkey pot-pie. I really think that she will start to grow here very soon. I am sure that when we go to the doctor in February for our one-year check up that she will hit the 16 pound mark!!

The whole family made a trip to Spring Green for New Year's Festivities at the Blakley's house. The yearly party filled with board games and a lot of fun had an 80s theme this year. Everyone had different outfits, and we reminisced about the fabulous 80s fashions that are now apparently coming back into style. We had a babysitter come and watch all of the kids while we played board games: girls vs. boys. The kids enjoyed playing with each other...as there were five kids under the age of 2. We always end up laughing hysterically, and with some of the outfits, it was a night filled with laughter. It was a lot of fun and a fabulous way to ring in the new year.

My outfit was something I actually wore. My mom made my jacket for me when I was younger. Of course my mom still had our hair crimper, so I was able to style my hair just right. I made the finishing touches with one of our million hair bows. Jordan's outfit was something he came up with from my clothes...clothes I still wear. He just knows how to pull off the too small, too tight look. However, his sun glasses are something he actually wears now.

Merry Christmas.....Part 3!

Christmas didn't end on Christmas Day for the Williams family. We traveled to Jordan's mom's house and celebrated Christmas there. Needless to say, there were lots of gifts. Paisley still didn't grasp the concept of opening the gifts. However, the one gift she did manage to open was one of mine. It had a candle in it, and hidden in the top of the candle was some money. Paisley found that before anyone could notice!

Jordan was super excited to find out that his mom got us a Wii for Christmas. He hooked it up right away and began playing away. We have become quite the bowlers. We'll see how it progresses. Paisley was blessed with many books, and she really enjoys flipping the pages.

Overall, we were extremely blessed this holiday season. We were thankful to be able to visit with all of our family....even though the weather was not terribly nice.

Jordan was super excited to see that a deer was in our house on Christmas morning. It took him about 1 minute to put together...which was almost disturbing to watch him put the deer together. He managed to take it downstairs and test it out. He is so proud...and ready to shoot any deer that even dares to step on our property! Hunting never ends at the Williams ranch.

Paisley had an eventful first Christmas. Santa brought her a tricycle that can be a rocker, a pusher, or a tricycle. She has enjoyed pushing it around the house. She also received a kitchen from Santa at Grandma and Grandpa Troy's house....among many other things. She now is the coolest kid on the block with her own cell phone and laptop. We will have to limit her technology use!! Her favorite toy so far is definitely the toys that Santa brought the cats. Imagine that!!

The Flu Bug Has Hit!

We have been hit with the flu bug. Monday I stayed home with Paisley because she was still a little sick. She reacted to the medicine the doctor gave her. In the morning I started to not feel well. Jordan came home early because he didn't feel well. By the afternoon, we both wanted to crawl under a rock. Paisley spent the night at grandma and grandpa so we could lie in misery...which we did all day Tuesday also. I started to feel better on Tuesday, and I am back to work. Jordan is still home today. Hopefully we all will be better for the Christmas holiday.

Relaxation at its Best

Paisley has been sick lately, and today I was officially puked on two times. Not just a little puke either...a full blown puke. Paisley had two baths and probably could have had one other bath. We took her to the doctor, which she did not enjoy. She has been unusually lethargic, and she actually took some time to sleep with her dad while I went for a run. This is what I saw when I came back from my run.

Graduation Day!!

Saturday was my graduation day! I actually finished my degree in August, but I went through the ceremony with the December graduates. It wasn't terribly long, and Paisley made it through the entire thing...as well as Jordan! Afterwards, Jordan threw a small party at our house, and it was an all-around nice day. By the way...I am now "Master" in the house.

Snow Day!!

We had a family snow day today. We both actually knew last night that we wouldn't have school, so we didn't have to worry about it this morning. The wind is howling, and the snow is blowing. We tried to take Paisley outside quickly in her new sled, but it was too windy for her. We did get some quick pictures.

The Tree is Lit!

We barely managed to fit the 9 foot 6 inch tree through the door, but it made it. Jordan did a fantastic job trimming the tree, and it is centered, lit, and decorated. It looks wonderful. We are very happy with our choice. Paisley did try to help a little with the decorating, but she was really fascinated with the train that goes around the tree. She was more intent on derailing the train.

Christmas Tree Hunting

Even though Paisley is battling a bad cold, we decided that today was the day to select the perfect tree for Paisley's first Christmas. We went to the tree farm we usually do in East Dubuque, but they didn't have anything tall enough for us. We found a new tree farm near Sinsinawa Mound, and we found a dandy!!

Trick or Treat!

Paisley was a butterfly for Halloween this year. She is the cutest butterfly we have ever seen. She really didn't mind her costume, and she crawled around most of the morning in it. It got hot quickly, so we couldn't leave it on too long. We didn't actually go trick or treating...as Paisley isn't eating candy yet, and I thought it would be somewhat rude of us to simply go with her. (Trick or Treat...the grown-ups just want your candy). We visited Jordan's mom, my grandma Teutschmann, my aunt Kelly and uncle Frank, and my mom and dad. She was definitely a tired girl when we got home. We did stop at home in-between to take a nap, but dad was the only one to take a nap.

Paisley has found a new favorite toy. My mom found this little push/ride cart at a garage sale for $0.25. Paisley has really enjoyed pushing the cart around. She will push it until it runs into something and she can't go anymore. She doesn't quite know how to steer it yet, but she is doing a fabulous job. She also really enjoys riding the cart. Her feet aren't quite able to touch the ground, but she loves when we push her. She gets on, hangs on with two hands, and away we go. She smiles and is very content. We just have to work on learning how to get off correctly.

Carving Pumpkins

Tonight we carved pumpkins and roasted pumpkin seeds. Paisley wasn't terribly thrilled about removing the gooey insides of the pumpkin. She was more interested in the newspaper that was covering the table to prevent a mess. We did get her to put her hand in the pumpkin, and she was really excited when the final pumpkins were unveiled.

We went to Grandma and Grandpa Troy's to pick out a pumpkin to carve. We put Paisley in the middle of the pumpkins, and she was to choose which one she wanted. However, Paisley was more impressed with the blue tarp and the noises it made and how it felt. She did begin to play with one particular pumpkin, as it made fun hollow noises when she hit it. We ended up with three different pumpkins, and the goal is to carve them this weekend.

Teething Time!

Paisley is in the process of getting her third tooth. It will be the first tooth on the top, but she seems to be handling everything fine. She did great with the first two...just a lot of drooling. Everything goes in her mouth. This makes me realize how often I really need to sweep and vacuum the floors. Yuck!

Packer Fans Forever!

Even though our beloved Brett Favre has moved on to wearing purple, the Williams family will always be Packer fans! Paisley has adapted quickly to our Packer Sundays, and she wears her green and gold with pride.

Paisley is an active and busy little girl. She moves around very quickly, crawling and managing to get into anything and everything. She is pulling herself up and just enjoying being able to play with daddy. As you can see, her and dad enjoy all of the toys!

A New Beginning!

Ever since I finished my research paper for my final Master's paper, I have wanted to create a blog. With some suggestions for a blog about our family and after a productive school inservice, I have decided that I CAN do this. I am super excited to continually update everyone on our family events (mainly Paisley's events)! I just need to find the time...who needs to grade papers?!
